What started out as 7,319 poker players hoping to become the next World Series of Poker main event champion, has now been dwindled to just forty-two as play continues Friday evening.

Episodic Poker Game Show Beta Testing On Xbox Live?
A leaked beta invite email makes it look like Microsoft Game Studios has a successor to the cancelled Xbox Live interactive show 1 vs. 100 in the works. Full House Poker will pit “thousands of players from around the world” against each other in live UK poker play at Online Casino. Unfortunately, it sounds as though the game will be played with avatars, since the leaked email promises “unique tells and avatar …

Poker Night at the Inventory will unlock items in Team Fortress 2
Weve been mildly curious about Telltale Games upcoming poker game, Poker Night at the Inventory, for awhile now. The game seems like a slice of heaven to a geek, mixing characters from Sam and Max, Penny Arcade, Homestar Runner and Team Fortress 2 in one humor-filled title. It looks like therell be reason to consider buying

The Luckbox Last Longer Challenge
Let’s start with the breaking online casino news: online bingo will be adding $2000 to the Luckbox Last Longer Challenge prize pool. Let me say that again. The awesome folks at PokerStars are once again showing their support for the WPBT by adding $2000 to the prize pool for the Luckbox Last Longer Challenge at the Winter Classic (and find it on Facebook). Let’s just say this little contest of pride and wills just grew into something awesome. Now let’s get to the details. With this much money now at stake, we’re putting down some rules. Read carefully! Teams of three must be formed before the tournament begins and submitted to The Luckbox. Team entries can be left in the comments of Up For poker bonus on THIS POST, sent to cusephenom -@- yahoo DOT com, or done in person in Las Vegas casino games online. The Luckbox will be at the tournament site at Noon, one hour prior to the scheduled start time of the tournament. Live registration ends at 12:45pm, 15 minutes prior to scheduled start time of the tournament. Sorry, no exceptions. Each team requires a $30 entry fee ($10 per person). If you are unable to find two teammates prior to the end of the Last Longer registration, you are ineligible to participate in the Last Longer competition. It is each team members’ responsibility to notify The Luckbox (or his representative) upon his/her elimination. If notification is not made at the time of bust out, the online casinos player will be assigned the same amount of points he or she would have earned for busting out first. At the end of the event, each players’ bust out number will be added together and the lowest total finishes first, 2nd lowest finishes second, etc. If two teams finish with the same total, the tie-breaker is the team with the top finishing player. From the added prize pool: $1,500 to winning team ($500 apiece) and then $500 for for second place team ($170 for top player on team, $165 for other two players). The added prize pool will be transferred into your PokerStars account. From the entry fee prize pool: 50% to the winning team, 30% to 2nd place and 20% to 3rd place. The entry fee prize pool will be handed out at the conclusion of the tournament. (Astin asked in the comments about people with no PokerStars account. First, it’s free and easy to sign up! Second, you can provide us with whatever Stars account you wish if you’re on the winning team. So if you want it deposited into someone else’s account, we can arrange that.) Any and all disputes will be handled by The Luckbox and thisisnotapril. All decisions are final. By paying an entry fee, you are agreeing to the rules set forth here. We want to make sure that the great people at PokerStars know how much we appreciate this so when you talk about the Luckbox Last Longer Challenge (we’re going to call it the L-cubed), please give PokerStars some love (your blog, twitter, facebook, etc.). If you have any questions about this, leave them in the comments or email me at the email address listed above!

BREAKING: CEO pleads guilty to federal charges
Today, former jeux casino gratuit CEO and Director David Carruthers pleaded guilty to federal racketeering charges. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says the Betonsports organization’s conspiracy included: “Creating and disseminating advertising throughout the United States which represented that its Internet and telephone gambling operations were legal and licensed. They failed to disclose known material facts, namely that the U.S. government and most state governments viewed such operations as illegal, and that they did not have a license to operate legally anywhere in the United States.” “Representing to potential customers that money transferred by them to BetonSports on account was safe and readily available to be withdrawn at anytime. BetonSports was actually using the funds to support and expand its operations, including the purchase of Easybets. When BetonSports ceased operations in July 2006, it could not repay its customers over $16 million held on account.” Carruthers now faces up to 20 years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines. He will be sentenced on October 2nd. The man who hired Carruthers also faces charges along with four other individuals. Those charges range from RICO conspiracy to mail fraud to the interstate transportation of gambling paraphernalia. That trial is scheduled for September.

CelebPoker Package Winner Achieves Ambition
CelebPoker Package Winner UK CelebPoker player Matthew Tranter took the next step in his poker career by winning a package to the Irish Winter Festival that took place from October 29th 31st, 2011. As a loyal player of CelebPoker, Matt will be aiming for more package wins in our online satellites for land based poker tournaments. We caught up with himto find out a bit more. What do you do (occupation, studies, hobbies etc?)I have been making a living by playing poker for the last couple of years. Prior to this I studied software development. I greatly enjoy skiing, socializing, reading and a wide variety of music; primarily drum & bass and dubstep which I find very helpful as a driving force during long poker sessions. How long have you been playing poker and how did you start?I have been playing poker for 5 years. Poker first caught my attention when some of the better players started to move over from the real time strategy game “Starcraft” that I was playing competitively at the time, they all showed great results and this opened my mind to the advantage of investing my time and dedication into a more profitable venture. Televised poker also added to the appeal to get involved in this exciting game; seeing the pros at the time playing high stakes tournaments for millions of dollars helped fuel my desire to learn and hopefully one day compete with and defeat these great players. Did you use any special strategy to win the tournament?I vary my play style based on the players on my tables at the time. On some tables it is advantageous to play tight (only the best hands) and some loose (many hands), however either way I will try to play those hands aggressively making my opponents make tough decisions whilst giving me information about the strength of their hands. In this tournament I was able to play a loose aggressive style (this means i was playing a lot of hands whilst betting/raising/re-raising rather than calling) and had a very large stack going into the final table.A tight player will make it into the money positions in a tournament more than a loose player, however a loose player will go on the win much bigger prizes more often when they do make the money. Any key moments you remember from tournament? The final table is the most important part of the tournament, with the pay increasing steeply with each extra position gained; here outplaying the other players really matters.I was lucky to have a 2 – 1 chip lead on 2nd place going in to the FT and couldn’t really ask for a better start. The other players were all playing tight against me; trying to avoid me at all costs unless they had a monster hand. This is always a good thing as with nobody trying to contest pots with me I was effectively being given permission to constantly steal chips from the other players allowing me to extend my chip lead significantly… a lot of the pots i won on the FT could have gone to the other player had they tried to play back at me. What do you plan to do with the prize money?I plan to use a lot of the prize money to work my way into a number of large live events. I will be playing the Irish Winter Festival tournament in October and hope that this will be the first of many over the next couple of years. It has been an ambition of mine to expand in to the live poker scene for quite some time now and huge prizes are ready for the taking.I will also re-invest a lot of the money on the Celeb Poker cash/tournament tables in order to continue progressing up through the stakes striving to improve by playing better players and to earn bigger pay days. Advice to other players? You might have to play countless tournaments in order to take a big finish or it could happen on your first one. The important thing is to not let this high level variance affect your play, if you’re not happy with your results so far it does not necessarily mean you’re a bad player as luck is certainly a large factor in poker. Keep a clear head, always be trying to improve your game (there are many resources out there for an aspiring poker player to learn from), put in the hands and the results will follow.

The Full Tilt Poker story nears its end
The Full Tilt Poker story nears its end Choose your language Thursday, Jan 19, 2012 Home > Poker Strategy > Articles > The Full Tilt Poker story nears its end by Tuesday,20 Sep 2011 Full Tilt Poker are on their way to the final crisis as controversy after controversy dogs them to the end There seems to be no end to the free fall that the once mighty poker site Full Tilt has fallen into. After Black Friday Full Tilt saw their business devastated with the loss of their American market. After making a deal with the US Department of Justice (DoJ) where they agreed to pay back their former clients in the US Full Tilt reneged claiming not to have the money. This led to them having problems with the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) leading to their poker license being suspended and a hearing is just around the corner to find out whether their license will be renewed by the AGCC. That hearing will take place on the 19th of September and it is highly unlikely that there will even be a viable company for the license to be granted to, should the AGCC move in favour. In this train wreck of a case things have gone from bad to worse, the case on the 19th is generally presumed to be the tipping point. The lawyer for Full Tilt and the several companies who run the site has been Jeff Ifrah and his associates until now, though there has been a growing amount of rumours as to whether he continues to represent the firm which in turn has led to speculation as to whether there is any money left in the company to pay them with. After releasing a statement on their finances in August the site claimed that they had been the victims of a massive financial fraud to the tune of $42 million by one of their payment processors. They also claimed that seizures by the DoJ accounted for over $115 million. This explanation satisfied few in the industry amongst players and pundits alike who reckon that hundreds of millions of dollars have been made by the site over the years of its operation. That Full Tilt Poker currently has no money is not in dispute but what happened to all of the money is a question that has yet to be answered to the satisfaction of players who have yet to come to terms with the loss of all their money. The hearing on the 19th is stated as being public but after the hearing, held in July which was also publicised as public was quickly held behind closed doors there is little faith that the 19th of September will shed any more light on the situation.

Affiliates are going crazy wondering about their money
by Tuesday,27 Sep 2011 The poker affiliate payments site rakeupdate.com has been defaulting on payments sending ripples though out the industry Just as the Full Tilt Poker scandal seems to finally be wrapping up there is yet another one around the corner. Professional poker players around the world have been using the services of rakeupdate.com for some time now only to find that the firm have been unapproachable for the past month. Despite repeated efforts to contact them players havent managed to get a response from the firm. It has been six weeks since the companys network provider, Elite Affiliate Software stopped providing services to the firm due to non-payment of their funds. There is more than $1 million owed to clients and it doesnt look like they are going to see their money any time soon.Unlike with Full Tilt Poker it looks like personal problems between the owners of the company have led to its downfall. There was a power struggle in the company as to who was ultimately in charge between the two biggest personalities involved, Mike Haid and Daniel Persson, it was Persson who who ultimately won with Haid and several other key employees walking away from the firm. This was a year ago and the service offered by the sites run by the firm immediately suffered. Players are said to have lost massive amounts of money since the firm stopped responding to players requests. In an interesting angle on the events of Black Friday that poker players dont usually hear about, the people at Rake Update also suffered massive problems owing to the fact that the big payment processors pulled out of the United States, they were particularly hard hit when Moneybookers and Neteller walked away from the market. When that happened they had to rely exclusively on gaming firms that were operating in contrast to US gaming laws including almost exclusively Full Tilt Poker. When the CEREUS Network and Full Tilt were taken down by the Department of Justice (DoJ) there were no more funds coming into rakeupdate.com and yet they were still paying out funds to customers. It was inevitable that they were going to implode the question was only the timing, of course none of this was known until later. The effects of this problem are far reaching indeed, although not on the scale as with Full Tilt Poker the ripples have still been sent throughout the industry.

Big name talent prepares for poker awards
by Tuesday,6 Sep 2011 The British Poker Awards are an excellent showcase for the massive talent that Britain has produced The British Poker Awards are getting closer and closer and the jury is still out as to which players are most likely to win. With a sterling performance from UK players at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2011 it is likely that there are going to be some new names mixed in with the old favourites. Players such as Jake Cody had a massive WSOP, winning over $800,000 for taking the winners bracelet in the $25,000 heads up no limit hold em event. He has the nomination for Best Tournament Player and Best Online Player. These are going to be difficult to win however as there are some massive poker names nominated alongside him in the form of Sam Trickett and Roberto Romanello for the title of Best tournament Player. Trickett first shot to poker fame during the 2010 WSOP where he cashed in no less than 6 separate events and then went on to storm his way through Asia, first at the Aussie millions and then in China when he won a reputed one and a half million dollars from high stakes cash games alone. More recently he just made 11th place at the Epic Poker Leagues (EPL) inaugural tournament for a prize of just under $50,000. Roberto Romanello is making a name for himself on the European Poker circuit. He won the World Poker Tour (WPT) Bratislava event earlier this year for a prize of $197,000 and the EPT Prague last year for a prize of $846,000. Managing to maintain the momentum, Trickett has been nominated in three categories this year. As well as the nomination for best Best Tournament Player he has the nominations for Best Cash Player and Best Social Media User. The Best cash Player is a massive title to win, other nominees include Roland de Wolfe and Richard Ashby. De Wolfe is a well known celebrity after having been playing on televisions Late Night Poker and at one point was the UKs highest earning poker player. He is also the first player ever to win both WPT and EPT events which he did in 2006. Ashby holds a WSOP winners bracelet for taking the seven card stud event in 2010, he also won the Aussie millions. The field of British poker pros is really an ever expanding pool of some really big names and it seems that there are always new players coming along to make it look easy.

Justin Bonomo sets up his poker game in Malta
by Thursday,1 Sep 2011 In the wake of Black Friday, Justin Bonomo has left the US to play poker in Malta Yet another former online poker professional based in the United States has left the country in order to continue playing the online game. The latest player to up and leave is the poker sensation, Justin Bonomo. The 25 year old up and coming poker star has relocated to Malta in the Mediterranean in order to continue playing online. He joins a distinguished list of world famous players to leave the United States, including such legends as Phil Galfond, Olivier Busquet and Daniel Negreanu to name but a few. Most US players who leave the states in order to play online have opted to head North to Canada with others heading South towards Costa Rica and Central America.Poker in the United States is going to be missing out on a lot of talented live players as they all move abroad and Bonomo is no exception to this. Bonomo, along with every other US poker pro, has seen his earnings drop massively in the wake of the crackdown on online poker by the US Department of Justice (DoJ). This loss of earnings is undoubtedly what prompted him to head for the small island in the middle of the Mediterranean. The young player has already earned close to $3 million from live tournaments alone and is likely to once again take the online world by storm once he is up and running.Amongst other things, Bonomo won an event at the 2009 World Series of Poker Circuit at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas is going to arrive in Malta in time to participate in the huge World Poker Tour (WPT) Malta event on September 20th which, like all WPT events, is likely to have a prize pool of a somewhere around the 1 million mark. The trouble for online gamers began on April 15th when the DoJ came down on the three biggest online poker sites in the world in what has come to be called Black Friday. On this day it became almost impossible for US players to find an online game that they could register into. What was then the second largest online poker site in the world, Full Tilt Poker, never recovered from the problems they encountered then and has since ceased operating, at least temporarily.

Best US Poker Affiliate Programs in 2012
Best US Poker Affiliate Programs in 2012 The poker affiliate marketing industry has changed a lot in the past year in the United States. After Black Friday the biggest poker rooms were forced out of the US market and that left a lot of US poker affiliates scrambling. Finding suitable partners to work with in the US online poker market is more important now than it has ever been before. Most of the poker affiliate programs that still operate in the US market have very poor affiliate support or they simply dont convert. When youre choosing what poker affiliate programs to promote to your US visitors you need to consider whats best for you and your visitors. You dont want to send your US visitors to an online poker room that has been struggling to payout US players or else your relationship with your player base is going to be horrible. You also want to ensure that you get paid out quickly and that the affiliate tracking is working properly. Best US Poker Affiliate Programs in 2012 Carbon Poker is our favourite US poker affiliate program. Carbon Poker is on the Merge Gaming Network and its the busiest online poker network still accepting US players. The Carbon Poker affiliate program has great affiliate reps that are available almost anytime you have a question. Bovada Poker is the new US poker room thats apart of the Bodog poker network. Traffic levels are decent and the poker room has been finding suitable methods to payout US players although slightly delayed. Bovada Poker can be promoted through the Betting Partners affiliate program where youll also be able to promote the Bodog brand (Non-US). The Cake Network is still accepting US players and average about 1000 real money players online. There are lots of skins on the network that you can promote although we recommend Cake Poker or Intertops. Cake Poker is the flagship poker room on the network and has decent branding while Intertops is well known in the sports betting world. Both programs run in-house affiliate programs that you can join by visiting Cake Poker or Intertops Poker. Finding American online poker rooms to promote in 2012 isnt as easy as it was during the online poker boom. Making money in the industry is even harder as well because poker players are becoming more educated. After Black Friday many poker players in the USA are being extremely cautious and you need to promote poker rooms that have a reputation in the industry. The poker rooms above have been operating for a long time now and are your best bets in this unpredictable market right now. If youre going to be a poker affiliate and target US players in todays industry its a good idea to spread your risk around. Once you have a player base built up you can start testing smaller skins that are working in the US industry. Keep in mind that you dont want to promote too many poker affiliate programs if youre just starting out in the poker affiliate business. Outsource your programming for less.
